SAMPLE RATE
Many samplers support multiple sample rates. Select lower rates to conserve RAM and/or reduce fidelity for aesthetic reasons.
CRUNCH MODE
Crunch mode does the classic turntable/varispeed trick of speeding up the audio prior to sampling so that less sample time is used, thereby saving RAM and disk space. This has the added effect of changing the sound quality and effective sample rate when pitched back down within the sampler.
The amount of transposition can be set prior to conversion. The default of 6 semitones is close to the traditional turntable speed difference. The higher the transposition, the more ringing, aliasing and/or low-pass effect is likely to result when the wavesample is returned to its nominal pitch.
CHANNEL MODE
Not everything needs to be stereo, especially when RAM is precious. Auto mode will preserve stereo when the source is stereo, otherwise the output will be mono. Forced mono will not preserve stereo ever. Manual mode will prompt for each and every file being converted.
